Bangladesh Government has declared the year-2016 as “Tourism Year” which is extended till 2018. Under this campaign aggressive tourism promotional activities are going on for attracting more tourists and earn more revenues. In 2016, the direct contribution of tourism industry to the national GDP was 5.3 billion US Dollar and total contribution was 10.6 billion US Dollar. Direct contribution to the employment of the industry is About 11 Lacs while total contribution is 22 lacs. Tourism can contribute more to the National GDP keeping the growth faster.
